To provide innovative loss control solutions that enhance corporate profitability and economic growth.

Objectives

The objectives of the Institute are provided in section 4 of the Act as follows:

  • a) Setting minimum professional qualifications for admission of members
  • b) Develop professional standards, guidelines, best practices and recommend regulations and a code of conduct for application by members
  • c) Influence the development of appropriate and relevant national loss control and private security management educational and professional training curriculum and qualification
  • d) Promote the studying and practice of loss control and private security management; the facilitation of sustainable skills relevance by offering mandatory continuing professional development for members; compliance to professional practice standards guidelines; and professional integrity
  • e) Raise the character and status of the profession and in so doing preserve the integrity and quality of the service offered by its members
  • f) Provide disciplinary mechanism for breach of the code of ethics and non-compliance with regulations, practice standards and guidelines

Professional Legal Status

The Institute of Chartered Loss Control and Private Security Management is an independent professional Board established in terms of Section 6 of the Institute of Chartered Loss Control and Private Security Management Act Chapter 27:23. Its members enjoy professional status conferred upon them in section 6 (2) of the Act.

Members are legally known through their designation as Chartered Professional Loss Control Managers and Chartered Professional Security Managers with the privilege to use post nominals CpLM and CpSM respectively.

The institute's mandate is enshrined in Section 27 of the Act to regulate:

  • ● Professional internship engagement and training regulation
  • ● Setting of professional standards and conduct of examinations
  • ● Setting criteria for entry into the membership register
  • ● Setting conditions for acceptance of any local or foreign qualification
  • ● Setting conditions for issuance of membership and practice certificates
  • ● Advocating appropriate professional salary scales and perks for members
  • ● Regulating disciplinary and appeals procedure
